A couple of weeks back I told you that I was desperate to get my hands on some cheese curds and how I knew the only way would be to order and have them sent from Wisconsin. I’ve hosted enough holiday gatherings to have learned a few things along the way. The biggest thing is to be organized, I am a big list person. Not just a grocery list, but a prep list and printed out menu so nothing gets forgotten. There is no reason you need to spend the entire holiday in the kitchen, that what the couple days before are for; well besides the turkey.It is most definitely possible to make a delicious Make Ahead Turkey Gravy! The trick here is to make it a little on the thicker side then when you are warming the day of you use some of those delicious turkey drippings to thin it out a bit and add that punch of flavor. I actually made this two days ago and froze the gravy in freezer bags.

Whole Wheat Biscuits & Chicken Sausage Gravy

I am a lover of biscuits but they are so not the healthiest food especially while I am still working hard to  get fit and stay there. I’ll be honest, though this is a much lighter version of the traditional with these Whole Wheat Biscuits & Chicken Sausage Gravy. I definitely don’t classify it as healthy but I totally believe a cheat meal is needed here and there and this is definitely less calories then the traditional biscuits and gravy.

I love how these biscuits came out, they were nice and tender inside and rose beautifully. This is a great basic biscuit recipe… want to make it sweet rather then savory, replace the salt and pepper with a little sugar or honey! The gravy is awesome with huge chunks of sweet Italian chicken sausage and plenty of black pepper! On the side, I went nostalgic with steamed peas & carrots.
{I used about half the biscuits for this dinner and the rest with a little jam for breakfast}
