Sometimes I can’t believe it, my husband and I have been together for nearly 18 years!!! That would be more then half our lives… yes high school sweet hearts. Next month is our dating anniversary and here is what I am planning for our at home celebration, a GORGEOUS and simple Summer Wine & Cheese Platter. Isn’t it mouthwatering?!?!
I was recently given the opportunity to work with Uncommon Goods and try out some products from their anniversary line. I have to tell you, I am hooked!!!! I hadn’t heard of the company before but I sure am glad to have found them. They have just about anything you can think of when it comes to gift giving or a special something for yourself. Wanting something special to celebrate our anniversary I decided on this really fun and beautiful Cheese & Cracker Serving Board {find it here} and those stunning Peacock Stemless Wine Glasses & Carafe {find it here}.
A little bit about Uncommon Goods… It was founded in 1999 and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. They are a privately-owned retailer that endeavors to feature unique jewelry, designer décor, tabletop items, and handcrafted gifts created in harmony with the environment without harm to animals or people. They work hard to support and provide a platform for artists and designers; in fact, half of what they sell is made by hand. Most of the jewelry products, home décor and table top items they carry are created right here in the USA, and about one-third of their entire collection incorporates recycled and/or upcycled materials.
I really love creating simple but elegant and delicious platters. Theres something spectacular about sitting outside on a warm summer night with a good glass of wine in your hand and a beautiful spread of cheese, crackers and fruit. I wanted to really highlight the season when putting the Cheese & Cracker Serving Board together. On that serving board, HOW FUN IS THAT?!?! I LOVE the ampersand cut out for the cheese and crackers- it truly makes for a fabulous anniversary gift {find more anniversary gifts here}. For some fantastic anniversary gifts for him check it out here.
Summer fruit is so darn sweet so I included sliced nectarine as well as those big juicy cherries. They paired really well with the garlic & herb cheddar and the brie. I also included a sun dried tomato goat cheese and for a salty note, sliced dry Italian sausage. Some simple petite toasts and pita chips to finish things off. I happen to adore brie and fruit together especially when I top the brie with local honey, toasted sliced almonds and a sprinkle of cinnamon . It is heavenly!!
Now when it comes to wine I have one rule- drink what YOU like! Sure the connoisseurs of the world can tell you perfect pairings but I think the most important thing is to stick to what you enjoy. I served 1 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and a bottle of Chardonnay. If you like a lighter and more refreshing wine then stick with the whites. For something a little more robust and deep stick with a red. Either way I say CHEERS my friend!! It is about enjoying yourself and the one you love and these stunning Peacock Stemless Wine Glasses & Carafe.
