Let me tell you about two things I really love; a great burger and some competition! This Burger with Gruyere Cheese, Pesto Mayo & Arugula is a winner in my book, the flavors are incredible!!! I was recently offered the chance to enter into the 2015 Blogger Recipe Challenge being hosted by Healthy Solutions Spice Blends, so I figured why not give it a go! I was given a choice of what spice blend to use in an original recipe and I decided to go with the Ultimate Burger Spice Blend.
A big juicy burger seasoned with the Ultimate Burger Spice Blend makes life easy peasy and who doesn’t love a great shortcut to make life easier? You can add great flavors with no effort… just open the spice blend {no preservatives, no fillers & no MSG} and boom, AMAZING FLAVOR! I topped these with a thick slice of gruyere cheese because I just love the mild flavor and it melts wonderfully. To kick things up a little, a 2 ingredient pesto mayo slathered on the toasted buns. To add some bright freshness, wonderful peppery arugula! I love everything about this burger!
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Healthy Solutions Ultimate Burger Spice Blend
- 2 sesame seed buns
- 2 Tbsp light mayo
- 2 Tbsp basil pesto
- 2 thick slices gruyere cheese
- arugula
- In a small bowl, mix together the mayo and pesto. Set aside. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a bowl mix together the beef and seasoning. Gently form into two even patties. I like to sprinkle each side of the burgers with just a little salt and pepper.
- Heat up a heavy duty pan {I used a cast iron skillet} over medium high heat.
- Toast the buns, set aside. Once cooled, slather the pesto mayo generously on both the bottom and top bun.
- Cook the burgers on one side for about 4 minutes, until a nice crust has formed.
- Flip the burger, add the slice of cheese on each and cover the pan. Cook for another few minutes until the cheese is melted and cooked to a medium rare/medium {longer if you prefer it more done}.
- Let the burgers rest for two minutes on a plate. Place onto the bun and top with a big handful of arugula.
